Last Saturday (19th August), PRAYAAS met AVIJIT MAJUMDER, our beneficiary presently studying at IISER, Kalyani (IISERK), in their FIVE YEAR BS-MS dual degree program. Avijit hails from Agarpara and had completed his HS in 2020, securing 91% marks. His mother has singly brought him up all along and he came to our fold in May’21. Avijit happens to be an avid researcher in genomics and we were somewhat awestruck by the confidence and ease with which this young man talked about some most complex projects on which he is working now. He has been selected in a prestigious team of IISERK, slated to participate in an international competition in November this year in Paris, France. I feel privileged to have talked to this young scientist and to share a writeup from Avijit with you all . PRAYAAS wishes all success to Avijit, who is sure to bring laurels for our country all through his career.

Avijit’s Letter to us
Dear sir,
I am happy to inform you that this year I become a member of IISERK iGEM team. The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) is a worldwide synthetic biology competition. Teams from all across the world participate in it and present their innovative ideas. It also provides a unique platform for students to work on interdisciplinary projects, combining biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science to solve real-world problems (details can be found https://igem.org/).
This year we are working to develop new bio-control agent delivery system to kill the Xanthomonas that causes diseases in the crops.
I also very glad to share a news that to present this idea, our Institute has selected me to visit Paris this year on November.
