About Us

  • • "Prayaas" – a combined effort of similar minded people who think education is one of the major needs in today's West Bengal

We help raising one such that this one can raise many !

Funds solicited exclusively from friends & acquaintances who intend to support our cause and who want to give back to society. Also, our beneficiaries are encouraged to give back once they start earning their livelihood. As of now 55 of our ex-beneficiaries have secured jobs & 20 of them have become our active contributors – we are proud of them. Eventually, this will lead to PRAYAAS being a self-sustaining organisation

Contributors are requested to commit an annual contribution amount. Though one-time contributions are accepted gratefully, long term commitments of contribution help us in planning for the future. Every year we admit students mostly from Std. 11/12 & they are normally supported at least till Graduation i.e., our commitment to them is for a minimum period of 5 years.

Financial challenges faced by the family & willingness of the candidate to continue with studies are two major selection criteria for selecting students. Also, thrust is on getting students from rural / semi urban areas.

Till last FY we have supported total 397 students. And, by end of the current FY, total disbursement will be around ₹ 1.60 Cr since the time PRAYAAS is in existence.

Glimpses of achievements by our students in recent years

  • 55 students out of 397 supported (14%) have secured jobs to earn their livelihoods.
  • In 2022 Sampad Nag & Subha Ruidas have secured ranks in WBJEE – Engg. / Sourav Banerjee has secured rank in WBJEXPO / Dipa Mondal & Debjit Das have secured admission in BSc (Nursing) / Priya Goswami has secured admission in Diploma (Nursing) – GNM / Riya Goswami has secured admission in Paramedical DOPT (Opthalmology).
  • In 2022 two of our students, Prava Biswas & Manas Kundu have joined Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for integrated MSc/PhD course.
  • In 2021 Niloy Acharyya & Akash Dip Ghosh have secured ranks in WBJEE – Engg. / Amiya Mondal has secured admission in B Pharm / Manasi Karak & Atanu Jana secured admission in Dip (Nursing) – GNM.
  • In 2020 Gour Krishna Dey, Akash Kotal & Susovan Banerjee have secured ranks in WBJEE – Engg. / Saikat Dey has secured rank in WBJEXPO / Sakshi Poddar has secured admission in BSc (Nursing) / Amrita Jana, Puja Lohar & Monisha Mondal have secured admission in Diploma (Nursing) – GNM.
  • In 2019 Suvankar Das secured rank in WBJEE – Engg. / Saikat Manna secured rank in Medical Entrance / Saurav Bhuinya secured rank in WBJEXPO / Sabyasachi Kundu secured admission in BSc (Agriculture) / Ishika Bhandari & Srija Karmakar secured admission in Diploma (Nursing) / Ayan Das secured admission in BSc (Industrial Fish & Fisheries).
  • In 2017 & 2018, Mita Chanda and Puja Roy topped West Bengal in their respective 1st year – Diploma (Nursing) final Exams. In 2017 Popita Garai & Shrayati Chakrobarty secured ranks in WBJEE – Engg. & Bhanu Kundu secured rank in WBJEXPO.
